“Since 2001 winners of 36 Trophies & 26 Gold Medals for chardonnay, verdelho, sparkling, pinot gris, cabernet sauvignon and merlot”.
“Robert Channon has long been a master of the dark arts of Verdelho” James Halliday 2016.
This highly recognised and well respected Winery is now available for sale to its second owners – and what an excellent opportunity this is for an incredible exciting lifestyle!
With a total area of 40 hectares, the winery was established in 1998 by Robert and Peggy Channon and rests on an altitude of nearly 950 metres, making it one of Australia’s highest wineries. This elevation plus the granite soils creates the unique cool climate wine area that is well recognised as the Granite Belt.
Robert Channon Wines was the first Queensland winery to receive 5 stars from James Halliday who has consistently praised the winery’s Verdelho.
There are currently 8 hectares of grape vines of Shiraz, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Verdelho and Cabernet Sauvignon. These are all under permanent netting and on a drip irrigation system drawing water from the nearby lake.
There is a 13 hectare water licence which allows for further expansion of the vineyard.
The Winery complex includes a Cellar Door with sales and storage areas, a tasting bench, an office and toilets. There is a fully equipped wine making facility plus a wine storage shed (approx 576m2) and a refrigerated container.
In the wine storage building there is a permanent stage which becomes the venue known as Swigmore Hall, where the popular concerts are held. The 100th concert was just held here recently and there is a regular audience at these concerts which also provide good wine sales and consistent profile for the Winery.
The magical view of the lake gives the perfect setting for the Singing Lake Café with an area of approx. 135m2, a commercial kitchen and caters for 60 covers inside with an extra grassed courtyard for al fresco dining.
Nearby is a sound low set 3 bedroom brick dwelling with kitchen, living areas and a double garage/storage. It has its own access and is currently rented at $280 per week. This would be suitable for an owner/occupier to live in or for employees to rent. Underground power is in place to a potential new site for another dwelling if required.
There are cattle yards, a loading ramp and crush also on the property.
The location of the Winery is ideal – high exposure, sealed bitumen road on the northern side of the Granite Belt, just 8 minutes to Stanthorpe.
Robert Channon Wines is to be sold as a profitable going concern so the next owner will be able to continue vineyards plus winery operations and sales immediately.
